Questions people ask before switching
What is Taupia?
Taupia is an AI-powered household bill management app that helps you track and manage your energy, broadband and mobile bills in one place. It reads your bills, monitors your contracts and renewal dates, and gives you a clear view of your total monthly costs. You can understand your plan, get alerts before prices rise, and switch providers inside the app when it makes sense. Taupia is built for ongoing bill management, not just one-time switching.
How does Taupia find the better deals?
Taupia starts with your actual bill. By reading your current tariff, usage, contract terms and renewal date, it understands exactly what you are paying today. For energy, Taupia compares your real annual consumption and tariff structure against available UK offers to identify lower-cost or more suitable plans. For broadband, it checks your contract status, speed tier and monthly cost against available packages in your area. For mobile, it reviews your current plan, data allowance and contract type to see whether a more cost-effective option is available. Because Taupia already understands your current plan, you do not need to manually re-enter usage details. When a better option becomes relevant, you can review it and switch directly inside the app.
What bills can I manage?
You can manage your energy, broadband and mobile bills in one place. Taupia reads your bills to track your contracts, renewal dates and monthly costs, giving you a clear combined view across all supported services. More categories will be added over time as we expand the platform.
Where is Taupia's bill management available?
Taupia's bill management for mobile, broadband, and energy is available across Great Britain: England, Scotland, and Wales.
What makes Taupia the smarter way to manage household bills?
Most tools focus on one-off switching journeys. Taupia keeps managing your household bills over time so you do not need to restart the process every time a contract changes.
| Feature | Taupia | Traditional tools |
|---|---|---|
| Ongoing bill management | Continuous monitoring over time | One-time comparison journey |

| After switching | Monitoring continues automatically | Journey ends after switch |
Is there a fee for using Taupia's service?
No. Taupia is currently free to use. You can manage your energy, broadband and mobile bills without paying a fee. In the future, we may introduce optional premium features, but core bill tracking and switching will remain accessible. If you switch providers through the app, we may receive a commission from the provider, which does not affect the options shown.
Do I need to contact my current provider?
No. If you choose to switch through Taupia, the new provider manages the transfer process, including notifying your existing provider where required. You can review and approve the switch inside the app, without needing to make phone calls or complete separate paperwork.
How long does switching take?
Switching times depend on the type of service, but Taupia tracks the key dates so you always know where you stand. Energy switches in the UK usually complete within about 5 working days and some suppliers can switch in as little as 1 working day, with a 14-day cooling-off period before transfer completes. Broadband switches typically take around 10 to 14 working days and usually include a 14-day cooling-off period. Mobile switching is often completed within 1 working day once you confirm the transfer and most new contracts include a 14-day cancellation window.
Will switching affect my service?
In most cases, no. Energy supply continues as normal during switching. Broadband usually stays active until the new provider takes over, although a short interruption can happen on switch day in some cases. Mobile number transfers can involve a brief service interruption while the switch completes.
How does monitoring work?
Once you upload a bill, Taupia reads your tariff, usage, contract terms and renewal dates. It then tracks milestones such as price changes, contract end dates and relevant alternative offers. You do not need to manually re-check the market because Taupia monitors tracked services in the background and notifies you when something important changes.
Do I have to switch?
No. Switching is always optional. Taupia helps you monitor and understand your bills first, then lets you decide whether to switch when better options are available. Nothing changes without your approval.
Does monitoring continue after switching?
Yes. After you switch through Taupia, monitoring continues automatically. Taupia tracks your new contract, renewal date and monthly costs so ongoing bill management continues.
