Every bill split automatically
Splitwise style, and not forced into an equal share. Each housemate holds a percentage of a bill, the percentages total 100%, and each share is worked out from the real bill amount, so it updates when the bill does.
Nous tracks your contracts and handles the switching for you, with Premium at £6.99 a month. Taupia is free, splits every household bill and switches only once you approve.
Free. Give your address for provider quotes in about two minutes, or upload a bill you already have.

01How Nous works, and what Taupia does
Nous is an AI app that keeps track of a household's contracts for energy, broadband, mobile and mortgages, with home and car insurance coming soon. It reminds you when a contract is ending, proposes like-for-like deals from providers it works with and, unless you choose manual mode, handles the switch for you. In its freedom mode it acts on your behalf and tries not to bother you.
Nous Free manages two services with one login. Premium, at £6.99 a month, manages every service, lets everyone in the house log in, adds WhatsApp support and pays cash rewards. Nous says it earns its money from Premium subscriptions, and that on Premium the commission providers pay it goes back to members as cash rewards.
Taupia is free and compares energy, broadband and mobile, with two ways in: give it your address and provider quotes come back in about two minutes, or upload the bills you have and AI agents read the tariff, usage, contract end date and any exit fee. It recommends one deal with its reasons, nothing changes until you approve it, and each household bill splits on percentages the house sets.

Who pays whom
02Supplier account setup
An app that changes your deals still leaves each bill in one person's name. If you share the home, the bill still has to be divided, chased and settled every month. Here is what Taupia does with that, and where it stops.
01
Splitwise style, and not forced into an equal share. Each housemate holds a percentage of a bill, the percentages total 100%, and each share is worked out from the real bill amount, so it updates when the bill does.
02
So nobody in the house has to be the one who asks. Each housemate repays the person the bill is in the name of directly, outside Taupia, and the share reads as settled once it has been repaid. Taupia sends reminders while a share is outstanding, and everyone sees the same shares and who has settled.
03
A utility account is usually opened in one person's name. That one named account holder is who the supplier bills, and the obligation to the supplier stays theirs whoever in the house has paid their share. Taupia can send a request to add further people to the account, but the supplier decides. If a share is late, Taupia flags it and sends reminders. It never moves money between housemates, and nothing it records changes what the named holder owes the supplier.

06Who Nous suits, and who Taupia suits
You want mortgages tracked alongside energy, broadband and mobile: Nous covers all four, with home and car insurance coming soon.
You would rather not be asked: Nous's freedom mode acts on your behalf and tries not to bother you.
You want commission handed back: on Premium, Nous says the commission providers pay it goes back to members as cash rewards.
You want energy, broadband and mobile looked after for free: Taupia charges the household nothing, where Nous Free stops at two services.
You want to approve every switch: Taupia recommends one deal with its reasons and changes nothing until you say yes.
You share the home: Taupia splits each bill on percentages the house sets and sends reminders while a share is outstanding, without moving money.
07Taupia's own limitations
Taupia does not bundle your payment. It helps you set up directly with each provider, then splits and manages it all with the prices in view, which is why it costs you nothing. Here is what that route does not give you.
Taupia only compares energy, broadband and mobile. It does not compare or switch water, insurance, credit, savings or mortgages.
A provider pays Taupia commission when a switch completes. On energy and gas the rate is the same whichever supplier you pick, so an energy recommendation does not pay Taupia more one way or the other. Broadband and mobile rates vary a little. The full list it recommends from is the suppliers Taupia supports, published on its supported suppliers page.
